About

A little colour, a little whimsy, a lot of heart.

An independent art and paper goods studio by Australian artist Camilla Shepherd, creating thoughtful little things to make life's everyday moments feel a little more special.

Inspired by the beauty of ordinary things, the charm of the unexpected and the joy of colour, each design begins with a love of painting, drawing and collecting little details from the world around us.

From illustrated greeting cards to playful gift tags and paper treasures, every piece is designed to bring a little delight to the art of giving, celebrating and connecting.

Thoughtfully created, with a touch of fun and a love of the little things.

Made to be kept, gifted and loved.

Meet Camilla

I'm Camilla Shepherd, an Australian artist and designer with a lifelong love of colour, pattern and the little details that make ordinary things feel extraordinary.

My creative journey began with sewing and textiles, which I studied throughout my school years before going on to study Fashion Design at the Whitehouse Institute of Design in Sydney and Couture Bridalwear at Central Saint Martins in London.

From 2000 to 2005, I co-founded the fashion label Fru Fru with my sister. Our collections found their way into boutiques around the world, and those years shaped so much of how I think about design, colour and creating things by hand.

After a few years away, I found myself drawn back to the things I'd always loved: painting, surface design, illustration and print. And so, Blackwood Paper Co. was born.

Today, I work slowly with colour, paper and print, creating illustrated paper goods that balance thoughtful design with a little playfulness. I'm drawn to beautiful everyday objects, unexpected combinations and the small details that make you look twice.

I'm so happy to share this little corner of my creative world with you. I hope you find something here that makes you smile, sparks a little joy or inspires you to see the everyday in a new light.

Thank you for being here.
